One thing is for sure - Verdell Jones is an honest kid and tells it like it is, and it is getting close to crunch time for his college services.
Jones is a true PG with sleek passing skills and has shown he knows how to run a team and make those around him better. Jones hales from Central High School in Champaign (IL) but as of today still doesn't have an offer from the University of Illinois. "I'm not sure what the situation really is right now, but I still have time. I do have a good list of schools that have put offers on the table to me, like Kentucky, Minnesota, Marquette, Tennessee, Virginia and South Florida," said Jones.
Jones still shows the Illini interest. "I'm still very much interested in Illinois. When they have seen me play in games and open gyms I've done really well, but I'm sure they will be talking to me more soon."
The knock on Jones early in his career was his strength but it appears that he's worked on his that. He also appears to be confident that he's going to land somewhere nice to continue his education.
For the Illini faithful who are worried about the recruiting situation with Jones, it's been clear from previous recruits that Weber will never recruit over a kid. I'm not saying that's the situation with Jones, but I'm sure at some point there have been plenty of conversations with the high school coach at Central High School.
