Prize Recruit Jereme Richmond in Town

Champaign, IL - This has been a great week for Illinois' basketball coach Bruce Weber with all the recent basketball commitments, but let's not forget the one kid who got the ball rolling and that's 6-6 sophomore Jereme Richmond from Waukegan, (IL). Read here for today's interview from the Ubben Basketball Complex with Richmond.

Jereme Richmond made the trip to the University of Illinois today to spend time with some of his future teammates and soak in the environment and recent recruiting news.

"I'm just glad to be down here with my future teammates, I think it's good every time I come down here I get the chance to bond with my guys and create my bond early with my Illinois family. They're great guys, it seems like they all want to see an up and coming guy make it and I can appreciate that, so each time I'm here they show me a lot of love," said Richmond.

Like most recruits they love the opportunity to work out with the team and Richmond has done that over the past couple months. "The last time I was down here I was able to play with them, but this time I just want to sit back and relax and enjoy my time being down here," added Richmond.

Richmond knows how important the latest recruits are for the future of the program, "I'm really excited. I don't see it as pressure, I see it as more fun than anything being able to play with those guys. D.J., Brandon and Joe are my close friends now and I think will all of them coming down here now we can do something special for Illinois in the near future," Richmond said.

This is a brief update on Richmond; we'll have another story on him later along with other current basketball members, but for now this soft-spoken athlete is just having fun with his teammates. During today's media event, Richmond was showing junior college transfer Rodney Alexander who the real dunk champion is.
