Good News For Illini Basketball Fans

Crandall Head, the brother of former Illini Luther Head and member of the Class of 2010, said Sunday he will make his college choice public. Read here for more on Head.

Bonnie Delany is the proud mother of two fine basketball players, Luther and Crandall Head. Crandall has made no secret of his love for the Illinois basketball program. Currently, here at, he's a four-star recruit. But remember, he's only sophomore and Head could be the best pure athlete of this great recruiting run Bruce Weber is on.

We spoke with Delany this morning and she confirmed the good news for the Illini Nation. "We're not going to the game today, but tomorrow he's going to make it public. He's always liked Illinois and his brother played there," said Delany.

With this commitment, Bruce Weber will field one of the most athletic men's basketball teams in the country. Don't get me wrong, all this talent will have to be proven on the court, but this group of young men will have all the makings of a true championship team.

We hope to speak with Crandall tomorrow after his commitment becomes official. Head will eventually join forces in Champaign with five-star, 2010 recruit Jereme Richmond, hearlded 2009 guards D.J. Richardson, Brandon Paul, and Joseph Bertrand, along with 2008 forward Stan Simpson.

When Weber first started to recruit the state of Illinois, there were many misses, including the likes of Sherron Collins, Julian Wright, Jon Scheyer, and most recently Derrick Rose. However, those misses were not from Weber being out-worked, it was just a case of kids who wanted to play elsewhere. Now, Weber is cleaning up the state of Illinois, with the top in-state talent scheduled to arrive at Assembly Hall in the near future.
