Recruiting Update as Coaches Watch

With no games on the Illinois schedule this week, the staff works the recruiting trail looking for the right pieces to join an already stellar group of classes coming in the near future. Read her for a brief update on Illinois recruiting.

The season is almost over for a lot of high school and junior college players, so college coaches are scurrying to find players to add to their rosters. Illini head coach Bruce Weber was in attendance last night to watch 6'8" forward Mike Shaw of Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle, a member of the Class of 2011. Tonight, Weber plans to watch Limestone freshman Donivine Stewart in a regional playoff game.

The assistants are also out looking for talent. Assistant coach Jerrance Howard took notice of 2010 guard DeAndre McCamey of St. Joseph High School in Illinois, the younger brother of current Illini freshman point guard Demetri McCamey. Tonight, Howard travels to Houston to see JUCO power forward Dominique Keller of Port Arthur (TX) Lee C.C. Keller has scholarship offers from UNLV, Kansas State, Baylor, Oregon State and West Virginia. Sources close to the Illinois program feel the Illini are right there in the mix for Keller's services and have a good chance with him.
