Early yesterday it was reported that Dominique Keller, a 6-7, 225-pound forward from Port Arthur (TX) Lee CC, would give Bruce Weber a commitment later after the Michigan State game on Thursday. We learned that wasn't the case.
Tonight we spoke with Keller in a phone interview and he issued the following statement: "I'm sorry the Illinois fans thought I committed, I did talk with someone down there, I said some of those things but they didn't come out right. I feel really bad about it. But I didn't commit this week. Please understand that Illinois is my first love and I appreciate all the love they gave me. I've been to a number of schools, I know what they have to offer, but my love and heart is with Illinois, they're definitely number one with me. Next Tuesday I plan to make my decision official, but I want to go home talk to my coaches and my mom. I really, really enjoyed my visit; it was what I expected it to be."
Keller also told us that the games were great and all the players were good to him, he's been to a number of schools and a lot of them offered, but he was done taking visits and has his mind is pretty much made up.
