Another 2010 Hoopster to Watch Out For

Illinois' head coach, Bruce Weber, has really changed the mindset when it comes to recruiting these days. The Fighting Illini already have some of the best young talent coming to Champaign in some time, but that hasn't kept another member of 2010 from catching the eye of Weber.

Hailing from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Chimankinda Kadima-Kalombo is a 6'4" sophomore guard who plays his AAU basketball for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors and its head coach Ricky Davis. We spoke briefly with Davis this morning about his star guard, "He has a nice list of Big Ten Schools looking at him along with a few other schools. Northwestern, Iowa and Iowa State have all expressed interest," said Davis.

"I don't remember when it was, but I know Illinois has been to school to talk to the coaches," Davis recalled. We also know that Illinois did attend an open gym where Kadima-Kalombo participated, so it seems there is more than just a passing interest on the part of the Illini.

We plan to find out more about Kadima-Kalombo later this week, especially his college interests and what his plans are for the remainder of the summer. Even with a seemingly full-stocked recruiting haul for 2009 and 2010, the Illini staff continue to search for the best possible talent and new names are sure to pop up throughout the summer AAU season.
