2011 Mike Shaw From The Hall

Mike Shaw has nothing but a tremendous upside to his game, this past weekend Shaw put his talents on center stage for the staff at Illinois. Shaw is from Chicago (Ill.) De La Salle.

Mike Shaw 6-8 Forward: Shaw is a very fluid, skilled 6-8 rising sophomore who shows good footwork and great hands. He is a very skilled player who can play on the perimeter and should grow into the multi-dimensional PF role. Shaw has a nice inside/outside package. He has a nice looking jumper but he struggled on his accuracy this day. He is a talent in a strong 6'8" frame is but still developing his game to match his immense potential. Shaw needs to work on his toughness down low (even if he is playing the four) and will need to improve his outside shot. But he has all the other skills to be a star in college. He has great hands to go with that big body which allows him to be a great rebounder. He has a smooth game and is somewhat reminiscent of Richmond's game although Jereme is more polished right now. Richmond and Shaw would make a ridiculous 3/4 combo in the future if it were to happen.

Against Zion-Benton, Shaw hit an almost carbon-copy shot of the Laettner last second shot and was his signature play of the day. I can see how Mike is rated top 5 nationally, as he has the potential to be a very special player.
