Chris Colvin will make one college coach very happy when he decides where he wants to play. His father, Ike Colvin, mentioned that the Illini are candidates to get a commitment from his son. "This would be his list as of right now: Illinois, Marquette, Providence, Florida State, and USC," said Ike Colvin.
Illinois definitely would like to stay on Colvin's radar. "When Chris visited Illinois unofficially when Tracey Webster was there, he received an offer," Ike Colvin stated. "We heard through the grapevine that new Assistant Coach Jerrance Howard wanted to know more and we felt we should talk to him and get to know him too."
Because Illinois has now been given a chance, the Colvin family claims they don't have a leader. "We're wide open," Ike Colvin added.
Illini Nation appears to be extremely happy with the recruiting efforts the entire coaching staff has done at Illinois. Ike Colvin was asked if Coach Bruce Weber has done anything different.
"On paper they have done a good job, but I think we have to wait and see how these kids do in pressure situations before anyone can say anything," the senior Colvin said. "Playing under pressure is a big part of the game."
There is no word on when or if Chris Colvin will be taking another visit to Illinois at this point, but there is no doubt Weber and his staff are making every effort to reach out to all of the top players in Illinois. We hope to report more on Chris in the near future here at InsideIllini.com.
