Joseph Bertrand Gives Goals for Senior Year

Illinois recruit Joseph Bertrand is back in school. He's poised for a big senior season on the court and is planning on becoming a more aggressive player. Get inside for this update.

Joseph Bertrand is a 6'5" guard from Sterling, Illinois. He's an athletic guard with unbelievable skills.

Often times when players commit fans and alumni think it's a done deal. That is especially the case when they announce their plans early in the process. However, believe it or not Bertrand still has an official visit planned. "September 5th and 6th I'll be down there with Tyler Griffey for my visit," Bertrand said. "I'm really looking forward to it."

Since D.J. Richardson left for prep school, it appears the Mr. Basketball award is wide open. In an earlier interview with Richardson, he told that he hopes Bertrand or Brandon Paul wins the award. Paul is another Illinois commit.

"I do want to win that award, it's a goal of mine," Bertrand admitted. "I plan on being on being more aggressive this year and I want to score more points. I'm a team player and want my team to do well too. I want to go out my senior year with doing well for my school."

With all the hype surroundings Bruce Weber's recruiting class Bertrand doesn't pay attention one bit. "I don't pay attention to any of that," he stated. "I have no idea where I'm ranked. I've seen everyone play and I know when we all get there we'll be pretty good."
