Lenzelle Smith, Jr. was first offered a scholarship by the University of Illinois. From that moment on, other big time programs followed suit. "He's visited Ohio State, Florida, Illinois and Northwestern. My son has received offers from Illinois, Northwestern, Oregon State, Ohio State, Virginia, Boston, Georgetown, DePaul and Marquette. I believe Indiana will here real soon. They have been playing phone tag with Lenzelle recently. Also I think Notre Dame and Purdue will; Purdue wants him to visit the school before they make an offer to him, I think," said Smith.

So where does Illinois fit in this picture? "Not sure. I haven't received a lot of contact from them. They still send him things in the mail, and that's good, but that's it at this point," he added.

Assistant Coach Jerrance Howard has made a nice impact on Smith. "Most of our relationship has been with Coach Howard. We liked everything that took place when we visited Illinois," Smith said.

With a list that appears to be growing it's hard to say where Smith will end up, but one thing is for sure: he's a great athlete with a 4.0 GPA and brings a mental toughness to the game that any coach in America would like.
