Martez Wilson: A family kind of guy

Starting sophomore linebacker Martez Wilson met with the press today and talked about everything from improving his game to one of his favorite TV shows. Read here for more on Wilson.

When you see a stud linebacker like Martez Wilson running down opponents you would think he spends most of his time studying game film, but that's not the case. Wilson rooms with fellow linebacker Brit Miller and Miller recently spilled the beans that Wilson has another love besides football.

"I love Family Guy," Wilson confessed. "I love Stewie. I make sure Brett doesn't change the channel. The show has so many characters and Stewie is one of the best."

But on the football side of things Wilson knows he must make more plays and tackles. Last week's game against Eastern Illinois offered a different dynamic than the season opener against Missouri. "The Tigers spread the field and it made us tackle them downfield," Wilson said. "But Eastern was more of a running team. We just need to wrap up better and get them to the ground."

Wilson and the rest of the Illini are preparing for Saturday's game against Louisiana-Lafayette. In two games, Wilson has accumulated 20 tackles, ranking him second behind his roommate Miller, who has 22.
