Class of 2009 Update: DE Craig Drummond

Illinois Assistant Coach Reggie Mitchell called Craig Drummond yesterday to get an update on where he's at in the recruiting process. Read here for a brief update on Drummond.

Craig Drummond is a standout defensive end from Chicago's Morgan Park High School. Drummond stands six foot five, weighs 270 pounds, and has a slew of schools recruiting him. The Illini are among the schools in heavy pursuit of the talented prospect, but Alabama, Wisconsin, Florida, LSU, Ohio State and USC are also showing plenty of interest. "I don't have a favorite right now," Drummond said. "I like all my schools, and each of them have offered me at this time."

Drummond is currently focused on his senior season, so taking visits is not something in his short-term plans. "I will take some visits; I'm going to wait until my season is over before I make it down there to Illinois," Drummond stated. "I don't have a date in mind, but I'll get down there. Illinois is my home state school so I'm really interested in them, but I'll wait and see how things go."

One team that appears to have the eye of Drummond is the Wisconsin Badgers. They're a team that's really pushing for his services and it looks as though the Badgers will be a major player when all is said and done.

A quote from Drummond on sums up his confident nature and his willingness to improve: "I have a lot of power and am a great run stopper. I can do it all. I'm just very quick and strong, but I still want to improve my backside pursuit. I also want to read plays better and will try and watch more film and prepare before every game."
