Center Meyers Leonard Is Ready For Action

Illinois native Meyers Leonard is listed as the nation's 7th best center in the class of 2010 by Scout.com. We recently caught up with Leonard.

Junior Meyers Leonard is a 6'10 center/forward from Robinson, Illinois. Already a highly-regarded prospect, it looks like there's could be more growth from this gentle giant. Depending who you talk to Leonard has all the tools that could make him a dominant player at the next level in college.

Right now when you look at all the major high school centers in the country Leonard more than holds his own. "School has started and I'm really concentrating on that," Leonard said. "It's going good. I still work out three times a week and shoot five times a week."

Midnight Madness is a big weekend for college basketball programs all across the county, but it's not certain if Leonard plans to make the trip to Champaign for those festivities. "I haven't heard anything about it yet, but that doesn't mean I won't," Leonard stated.

The Illini Class of 2010 has only three players committed to it, but rest assured when the rankings come out the class will be considered as one of the best in the nation with Leonard, Jereme Richmond and Crandall Head. All three players are ranked in the top ten at their respective positions.

Stay tuned for more on Leonard in the upcoming weeks.
