Anthony Williams Reconfirms Illini Commitment

When a football player selects a school without having taken an official visit, it is easy to wonder if he might regret the decision once he sees the school up close. That was certainly not the case for Anthony Williams, the big receiver out of Virginia. He is even more convinced he made the correct decision in selecting the Illini after his official visit.

Anthony Williams, the Atlantic Shores Christian Academy receiver from Virginia Beach, Virginia, finally got to spend time on the Illinois campus after committing to the school last week.

"I was impressed," Williams stated after his official visit had ended.

Williams made the rounds of campus and the football complex and liked everything he saw and experienced.

"We met the coaches. They showed me the facilities. I met some of the players. I liked the facilities. The academic building was nice. There was a jukebox in the locker room. It's just a nice school all around. I think I will be happy at Illinois."

Williams enjoyed spending time with head coach Ron Zook and offensive coordinator and receivers coach Paul Petrino.

"I like Coach Zook a lot. He's not like other coaches. He relates well with the players. I already had some meetings with Coach P, Coach Petrino, on receiver stuff. I like his background. He knows what he's talking about."

He also got to meet a couple Illini quarterbacks.

"I talked to Chandler Whitmer. He's already enrolled in school even though he's only a freshman. Of course, I also talked to Juice Williams. He's graduating."

The future business major plans to move onto campus to begin preparations for his first season with the Illini.
