As I was watching the Bucket yesterday I was oddly not into it very much. This can be attributed to the last twenty years of Indiana football and the fact that all Bucket games are being played for pride, nothing else. That's right, pride, no bowl game, no winning season, nothing, just pride and that gets old.
What do I want as a paying fan, spending tons of money traveling to and from games...mostly losses. I want a Bucket game that means something, I want a Bucket game that sees IU playing for the Roses, not some empty ass pride thing. I want the Bucket game to represent a true rivalry game again, that can't be said when they beat you 80 percent of the time. I saw two mediocre teams yesterday, almost like watching two washed up prize fighters.
I want Kevin Wilson to own up to defense and the fact you MUST play good defense to win ballgames. These last three Big Ten games have been atrocious, noway Eckler and Mallory should continue in their high paid positions. As someone OTOB said, even a MAC level defense would not give up the points and yards we've seen IU's defense give up. If that's not an indictment on the dcord. than nothing will ever be their fault. I also want a fan base that demands a winner, not proclaim victory because our record's improved...that's a loser mentality if there ever was one.
When traditional dormats such as Northwestern, Kansas State, Vanderbilt and others are flourishing, what's IU's excuse?
