Mark May of ESPN and several BIG Network folks have hammered Purdue for their firing of Danny Hope. May said "Purdue's not an elite program and it's considered a good season when they reach a bowl". This is the stuff that fans HATE to hear but it's true, Purdue could've done a lot worse than Danny Hope these last four years.
It's a huge gamble by Purdue and their people because they could easily slide back into the Jim Colleto years. I gotta throw this in here...just read an article over on Rivals home page ranking the current job openings and no surprise, Auburn is ranked number one. It went on to rank the ten openings and Purdue was at number six on the list. At the very end of the article, it stated "just for the record, if Kentucky was still open they would've been ahead of Purdue on this list". I about pissed my pants but I'd have to agree, the Kentucky job has more potential than the Purdue job. Kentucky fans have filled Commonwealth Stadium during 3-8 campaigns, Purdue fans generally stay away in droves at the first sign of a losing campaign.
