Goff To Visit IU Program in Coming Weeks

Three years ago, Robert Goff was a intriguing athletic big man from Broad Ripple H.S. who had the interest of plenty of programs. He's once again a recruiting priority for a handful of programs including IU, which will host him for a visit in the coming weeks...

Cody Zeller isn't the only big man Indiana Coach Tom Crean has an eye on this fall.

According to Scout.com's Dave Telep, Hutchison J.C. forward Robert Goff will visit the IU program the first weekend of October. The 6'9", 230-pound Indianapolis native visited Oklahoma last weekend and also has upcoming trips on the calendar to Iowa State and Ohio State.

This isn't the first time Goff has been on an IU coaches' radar. As a standout at Broad Ripple H.S., Goff was receiving plenty of recruiting attention three years ago, but was forced to go the junior college route to get his academics in order.

Goff spent one season at Cowley C.C., where he was a frontcourt force for a team that went 29-5, averaging nearly a double-double during the 2008-09 campaign. But when Cowley Coach Steve Eck opted to leave Cowley to take over the Hutchinson J.C. program in March of 2009, Goff opted to leave with him.

Goff's decision didn't sit well with Cowley, which refused to release him. As a result, Goff was forced to sit out the 2009-10 campaign as a redshirt and will return to the court for Hutchinson this winter.

Goff will have two years of eligibility remaining when he enrolls at a D-I program in the fall of 2011.
