The Hoosiers continue to try and exploit their ties to Louisiana with the latest example being Kentrell Brice IU cornerbacks coach Brandon Shelby, who coached the same position at Louisiana-Monroe last year, combs the Bayou State for talent and believes he's identified a good one in Brice

"Coach Shelby offered me in kind of a spur of the moment thing really," said Brice "They told me they are looking for some good cornerbacks for their program They got a winning coach now and it's a Big Ten program so that's nice "

The Hoosiers became the first team to officially offer the 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback a scholarship recently, but they aren't the first team to take notice of his skills He said he has been in contact with several schools throughout the South

"Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Indiana are the ones I've been talking to the most," said Brice "I'm interested in Indiana, but I have interest in Arkansas and Ole Miss, too I don't know if Ole Miss is close to offering me, but I think Arkansas might be after they see how I can do in the one day camps They want to see me move and run and get a closer look I guess "

The Hoosiers have also extended an invite to Brice to attend a camp in Bloomington and he plans on making the trip

"I will make some visits to one day camps in June and I will probably drive up to the one day Indiana Elite camp," said Brice "We will probably stay a day after just to check out the campus and stuff like that "

It will be a long drive for Brice, but he says distance from home won't really play a factor in his college decision For him it's more about getting the right feel

"It's basically just the right environment and where I feel comfortable that will decide things," said Brice "It doesn't even matter how far away it is, it's more about whether I feel comfortable in that environment "

Brice has been heralded as a good cover corner and continues to improve in other areas as well He was recently timed at 4 7 in the 40-yard dash and posted a 35 6 vertical leap He's pleased that his skills have begun to bring him serious recruiting interest, but he knows his work isn't finished yet

"My strength and my speed is good for high school, but I need to get faster for college," said Brice "My coverage skills are pretty good, but there's always room for improvement "
