Ewing Signs Letter of Intent

After almost two weeks passed since signing day, some Hoosier fans wondered if Patrick Ewing Jr. was considering other schools to play for next season. Ewing put an end to those fears by signing his letter of intent with Indiana on Thursday.

Ewing will help fill a large gap left in the frontcourt left by departing senior Jeff Newton, who was Indiana's only consistent post option all season. Ewing averaged 19 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks a season for National Christian Academy last year.

Indiana coach Mike Davis believes Ewing's will significantly help the team in rebounding and scoring. Ewing will have the chance to play immediately if he works hard in practice. He will battle with forwards Mike Roberts and Sean Kline for a spot in the starting lineup.

Davis is excited about Ewing's commitment to Indiana because of his ability to deal with pressure. Playing in the shadow of his father, an 11-time NBA All Star, Ewing attracted a great deal of attention upon his emergence at the high school level. Davis believes he used this attention to strengthen his focus and resolve towards becoming a great player himself.

Hoosier fans hope he will continue to use that focus to become a great player at Indiana
