Josh Smith Makes Commitment

Mike Davis and his staff are on fire lately. A rumor floating around the water cooler was that Davis would sign Smith during the ABCD All-America Camp. That rumor became a reality on Thursday when Smith became Indiana's fourth commitment of the 2004 class.

Smith has amazing ability with many analysts comparing him to a young Tracy McGrady minus the jump shot, and even his jump shot is good. If Smith can improve his jump shot he will be very tough to stop.

Many fans think Smith will jump straight to the NBA after his senior year of high school, but Smith seems to be excited to play with arguably the best recruiting class in the country and for Coach Davis.

Pete Smith told reporters his son eagerly awaits playing for Davis because of the offense he runs and because Davis is a decent, caring man.

Smith averaged 22 points and 13 boards last year at McEachem (Ga.) Powder Springs. He led the Indians to a 23-5 record, but they were not enough to beat rival North Gwinnett in the State AAAAA Tournament. The Indians played without their leading scorer Morris Almond who had a broken leg. Smith led the Indians with 28 points, including six three-pointers, but his individual effort was not enough.

He plans on attending Oak Hill Academy (Va.) next season. Top Stories
