McNeil Enjoying Recruiting Process

Lukayus McNeil said he has picked up 15 offers including Big Ten offers from Purdue, Iowa and Indiana. He said he likes Indiana "because it just feels like it's a family atmosphere.''

Lukayus McNeil is enjoying the recruiting process.

The big 6-7, 260-pound offensive tackle from Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis who will be a senior in the fall, has picked up 15 scholarship offers and interest from plenty of other schools.

"It's all coming together,'' McNeil said in an interview Wednesday night with "I've received interest from a lot of schools and I wasn't really familiar with a lot of them before this process. But I've really enjoyed it so far.''

The Big Ten schools that have offered include Purdue, Iowa and Indiana. Michigan State has shown interest but has yet to extend an offer. McNeil is scheduled to take an unofficial visit to MSU on Saturday.

He said his first official visit is set for Wednesday at North Carolina State. McNeil said he plans to take all five of his visits but has yet to firm up dates or schools for the others.

McNeil said a positive in the recruiting process to date has been his ongoing interactions with Indiana.

"I have a really, really good relationship with everyone at Indiana,'' McNeil said. "It's a daily interaction. The thing I really like there is it just seems like it's a family atmosphere. I really feel comfortable with their staff.''

McNeil said he doesn't have a timetable for when he wants to make a decision. Signing day is the first Wednesday in February.

"I'm going to just let it keep riding out for a while here because I want to talk to a lot of different schools and really feel comfortable with my final decision,'' McNeil said. "But I'm enjoying everything so far and I look forward to the next few months.''

Some of the other offers that McNeil has received include Louisville, Cincinnati, Kentucky and Virginia Tech.
