Williams, Swain ineligible

On the eve of Indiana's first practice of the 2013 season, IU coach Kevin Wilson announced that two true freshman will not be with the team and one other will join the team late because of academic reasons.

Two members of Kevin Wilson's class of 2013 will not play this season because of academic reasons, Indiana announced in a press release Thursday afternoon.

Wide receiver Taj Williams and tackle Maurice Swain will not play in 2013 because they haven't fulfilled their academic requirements, according to the press release. A third member of the class, RB Daryl Chestnut, is being included in the 105-man roster and is expected to join the team in camp. At this time, however, he has also not completed the necessary academic requirements.

In addition, cornerback Antonio Marshall has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules

Wilson also announced that six walk-ons will be part of the Indiana roster for 2013. They include OL Chase Alexander from Avon, K Aaron Del Grasso from Hobart, K Griffin Oakes from Greenwood, LS Josh Pericht from Providence St. Mel in Orland Park, Ill., DL Ben Polk from Evansville Mater Dei and QB Bryce Smith from Floyd Central.
