Following Monday's first of two daily practices, Indiana coach Kevin Wilson talked about his thoughts looking back on Saturday's scrimmage.
"It was pretty physical,'' Wilson said in an interview with IU Media Relations. "There was some give and take, and some good and bad. We did a lot of kicking. We didn't hurry through. We started warming up at 5:30 (in the evening) and we didn't quit until after 8:45 so it was a good long day.
"We had a lot of young guys playing. But it was probably as physical from a starting point as we have been. So I like a lot of things that we saw.''
Wilson talked a little more about the kicking game to this point in camp. He said most of the work the first week had been individual and fundamentals. This week IU will do more 11-on-11.
The season opener is Thursday, Aug. 29 at home against Indiana State.
"So we worked with the punt team and the kick team in more 11-on-11 situations,'' Wilson said. "We tried to slow it down, get lined up and get some quality reps.
"This will be a big week. We've got some good kickers and we should have some good returners. Now we've got to get 11 guys playing at a high level who can make some plays for us.''
Indiana returns to practice for a single workout on Tuesday and then another two-a-day practice on Wednesday.
