True Freshman tight end leaves IU program

True freshman tight end Evan Jansen has left the Indiana football program, IU coach Kevin Wilson confirmed on Tuesday.

Kevin Wilson announced at the end of practice Tuesday that true freshman tight end Evan Jansen has left the IU program.

Jansen, a 6-4, 247-pound tight end from Moeller High School in Mason, Ohio, left after approximately five practices.

"After a week, he decided he didn't want to play so he left,'' Wilson said. "I don't think he plans to come to school here although we kind of left it open. So he's left the team right now. It was a voluntary deal and he said it after he was here for about five practices. I don't think he made it to a two-a-day.

"So we'll see how it goes moving forward. I kind of sensed his mind was made up. We talked to his family. If he wants to come back, he can, but I think it's kind of a closed door right now. We'll see.''

Jansen was probably no higher than fourth on the depth chart at tight end behind Ted Bolser, Anthony Corsaro and another true freshman, Danny Friend, who has had a very productive camp. Friend is 6-5, 250 from Morris Community High School in Morris, Ill.
