Defending National Champs back at it

Indiana Soccer opens the exhibition season next week and the regular season Aug. 30. The No. 1 ranked Hoosiers opened practice this week. Make your landing spot for all IU Soccer coveragel

The start of soccer season is less than two weeks away, and defending national champion Indiana is back at practice.

The Hoosiers worked out for the first time Wednesday. After a two-mile fitness test in the morning, the team had a pair of practices.

Top-ranked Indiana has little time to prepare for a grueling early season schedule. Next Thursday, IU opens with a pair of preseason matchups at the National Soccer Festival Aug. 22 and 24 in Fort Wayne. The Hoosiers will face No. 12 Marquette at 7 p.m. next Thursday and then No. 4 North Carolina on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The regular season officially begins with the annual adidas/IU Credit Union Classic on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. IU opens with SMU on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. before facing No. 9 UCLA on Sept. 1 at 2 p.m.

With the UCLA game Indiana has a promotion out to try and "Fill the Bill," and set an attendance record for the UCLA game.
