The start of soccer season is less than two weeks away, and defending national champion Indiana is back at practice.
The Hoosiers worked out for the first time Wednesday. After a two-mile fitness test in the morning, the team had a pair of practices.
Top-ranked Indiana has little time to prepare for a grueling early season schedule. Next Thursday, IU opens with a pair of preseason matchups at the National Soccer Festival Aug. 22 and 24 in Fort Wayne. The Hoosiers will face No. 12 Marquette at 7 p.m. next Thursday and then No. 4 North Carolina on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The regular season officially begins with the annual adidas/IU Credit Union Classic on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1 on Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium. IU opens with SMU on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. before facing No. 9 UCLA on Sept. 1 at 2 p.m.
With the UCLA game Indiana has a promotion out to try and "Fill the Bill," and set an attendance record for the UCLA game. The record is 7,423 set against UCLA in 2007.
AllHoosiers.com will be a landing place this season for all your IU soccer coverage. Our plan is to have weekly stories, profiles, advances and game coverage.
