IU Insider Blog: Staff is coming together

We're putting together a pretty strong staff at AllHoosiers.com and look forward to blanketing you were our IU football, basketball and all other sports coverage.

Since kicking off the AllHoosiers.com site just about a month ago, I've been able to slowly add all of the pieces that you'll come to enjoy in terms of the coverage we'll bring you this season.

Fox Sports/Scout.com boss Joel Cox made it official over the weekend that JUSTIN ALBERS is our second full-time writer on board. Justin's primary concentration will be Indiana basketball recruiting but he'll also have a hand in all aspects of the site and will be involved in football and basketball beat coverage.

I've known Justin for several years. When he was young he attended the same church that I did and I was his CYO high school basketball coach. Yes, young Justin was my point guard and a pretty good one, too. He did several job shadows with me growing up and eventually went to IU where he got his degree in Journalism.

Justin is very talented and he's a tireless worker. He's exactly the guy we needed covering basketball recruiting for us. He spent the last two years at one of our competitors, Inside the Hall, where he teamed with Alex Bozich to put out a great product. I feel lucky to have him on board and I know my AllHoosier.com subscribers will quickly figure that out, too.

In addition, I've been able to bring on board three interns that will just add to the total product we're able to bring you at AllHoosiers.com this year.

JOE POPELY is a senior with experience both on the print and broadcast side. For us, he'll primarily be a writer where he will supplement our coverage of all things Indiana football and basketball.

TONY ADRAGNA is a recent IU grad who will help in a variety of ways. He knows his way around a Podcast and will do a weekly one here. He's also just agreed to be our primary IU soccer contact as we hope to give Indiana soccer fans a reason to follow our site, too.

NOLAN BLAIR will do some writing but will also serve in our lead broadcasting position. Nolan will be on camera with me doing post game analysis videos as well as putting together video packages from games and press conferences. Nolan is a senior at Indiana as well.

There's a chance we may bring one more person on board. We're still exploring that as we speak.

I think you all know me by now but if not I spent the past 22 season at the Indianapolis Star where I covered IU basketball for the last 15 years. Five times in the last seven years I've been named Indiana's Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and I've written four books including Rising From The Ashes, The Return of Indiana University Basketball, which was published in 2012.

My responsibilities will be as the main beat writer for IU football and basketball and I will also handle Indiana football recruiting.

Add it all up and I think we have a pretty good product and will be more than competitive in this market. With the national resources we have behind us at Fox Sports/Scout.com you can expect to have blanket coverage like no one else in this market can deliver.

It should be a fun ride. I'm looking forward to sharing it with you.
