Indiana leads 45-21 at the half

The Hoosiers have dominated Indiana State in the season opener for both teams.

It sure didn't take long for the Hoosiers to show why they believe they will be a much improved football team this season.

Indiana leads Indiana State 45-21 at halftime in the season opener for both teams at Memorial Stadium. The 45 points are a record for the Hoosiers in a half.

After the Sycamores tied the score at 7-7 with 8:27 to go in the first quarter, Indiana rattled off 38 consecutive points to build a 45-7 lead. But Indiana State scored two touchdowns in the final 19 seconds of the half, the second one coming on a fumble recovery on a kickoff.

Tight end Ted Bolser and wide receiver Shane Wynn have two touchdowns each for the Hoosiers.

Tre Roberson started the game at quarterback for Indiana, but Nate Sudfeld entered in the second quarter. Roberson is 3-of-6 for 71 yards and two touchdowns, and Sudfeld has gone 3-of-4 for 62 yards and two scores. Cam Coffman has also played, going 2-of-6 for 29 yards.

Running back Tevin Coleman and wide receiver Nick Stoner also have touchdowns for the Hoosiers.

Indiana State's top player, running back Shakir Bell, sustained what appeared to be a shoulder injury late in the first half and left the game. Bell has 113 yards rushing on 18 carries. Top Stories
