According to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv in New York, Whitehead met with Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon and Minnesota coach Richard Pitino. Minnesota has been among Whitehead's favorite schools for some time now, and that continues to be the case. His meeting with Pittsburgh was a bit more surprising.
Whitehead's high school coach, Tiny Morton, told Zagoria that visits to Pittsburgh and Minnesota are in the plans.
I also continue to hear that Whitehead hopes to visit Bloomington officially for Hoosiers Hysteria on Oct. 4. The trip still hasn't been scheduled, but both sides continue to discuss making it happen.
Whitehead is the top-ranked shooting guard in the 2014 class and is one of Indiana's primary guard targets. There are still a number of schools in the mix for him, and it's hard to tell at this point which school may be his leader. But Minnesota is right there at the top.
***While Pittsburgh and Minnesota were having in-home visits with Whitehead, Indiana coach Tom Crean was visiting with 2014 guard Lourawls Nairn. Nairn is scheduled to take an official visit to Bloomington the weekend of Sept. 20-21. He has already taken trips to Oklahoma and Minnesota and his down to just those three schools.
Nairn is the 23rd-ranked point guard in the 2014 class.
***Tracking Tom Crean: He met with Nairn yesterday. On Tuesday, he had an in-home visit with 2014 forward Devin Robinson, and on Monday, with 2014 guard Robert Johnson. He is expected to visit 2014 guard James Blackmon Jr. today.
***Quentin Snider, a 2014 guard from Louisville, will announce his college decision tonight. Indiana was originally in the mix with Snider, but never offered him a scholarship so talks never got that far. Snider recently had in-home visits with UCLA and Illinois.
***Jordan McLaughlin, a 2014 guard from the West Coast, committed to USC on Wednesday. Indiana was in McLaughlin's final four, but unlike the other three schools, the Hoosiers never got a visit. Indiana didn't recruit him as hard as some other guards because it figured he would stay west for college.
***Don't forget that 2014 center Goodluck Okonoboh will be in town this weekend for his first official visit. Okonoboh is down to five schools and is one of Indiana's top targets for next year. The Hoosiers remain without a committed recruit. Could that change by the end of the weekend?
