Whitehead to announce decision Thursday

2014 guard Isaiah Whitehead will choose from five schools when he announces his college decision on Thursday afternoon.

A busy week in Indiana basketball recruiting just keeps getting busier.

In a surprising move, 2014 five-star guard Isaiah Whitehead announced Tuesday night that he will make his college decision Thursday afternoon at 2:30.

"We didn't feel we needed any reason to drag it out," Whitehead's high school coach, James Barrett, said.

Whitehead, the top-ranked shooting guard in the 2014 class, will choose from Indiana, St. John's, Seton Hall, Pittsburgh and Minnesota.

Whitehead had previously been considering Syracuse, Arizona and UCLA.

It's shocking that Whitehead will make his decision so quickly because nobody seemed to know he was anywhere close to a decision. He's been collecting offers and meeting with coaches for some time, and hasn't even taken an official visit yet.

He took an unofficial trip to Bloomington in early September, the same weekend 2014 guard Robert Johnson was on campus. Johnson will announce his college choice on Friday afternoon.

Whitehead has also taken an unofficial visit to Seton Hall and has had in-home visits with Pittsburgh and Minnesota. Whitehead is slated to take an unofficial trip to St. John's on Wednesday.

Whitehead will make the decision in his high school's gymnasium, according to Barrett.
