Football Recruiting Update: Sept. 18, 2013

Tampa (Fla.) offensive lineman Gary Brown talks about his official visit last weekend to IU. We have that and seven other recruit stories in today's recruiting update.

There are a lot of national recruits with Indiana on their radar screens. Here are stories on eight of them that our national analysts spoke with recently:

1. Gary Brown, the offensive lineman from Tampa (Fla.) Alonso, was in Bloomington for the Bowling Green game for his official visit. Here's how that went. Gary Brown

2. Speaking of Florida recruits, 2014 safety Juan Jenkins of Gainesville (Fla.), picked up an IU offer in August. Unfortunately for Hoosier fans, his first official visit will be Sept. 28 when he heads to Purdue. No word on other officials. Juan Jenkins

3. And there's plenty of talk in the 2015 class. We begin with QB/TE David Edwards of Downers Grove (Ill.) North. Edwards has an IU offer. David Edwards

4. Wide receiver Leon Thornton from Montini Catholic in Illinois has been talking recently to Vanderbilt, Indiana and Illinois. Leon Thornton

5. Philadelphia running back Nas Bonner recently picked up an offer from Rutgers. He's also been hearing a lot from Indiana and Northwestern. Nas Bonner

6. Four-star wide receiver Alex Ofodile from Rock Bridge (Mo.) is now up to 10 offers including one from IU. a target="_blank" href="">Alex Ofodile

7. Wide receiver Cory Contini from Dover (Ohio) attended the IU-Navy game. Cory Contini
