Another 2014 guard is off the board.
Isaiah Whitehead, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Brooklyn (N.Y.) announced Thursday afternoon that he has committed to Seton Hall. Whitehead, the top-ranked shooting guard in the class, chose the Pirates over Indiana, St. John's, Pittsburgh and Minnesota.
Indiana began recruiting Whitehead in July after James Blackmon Jr. decommitted. Tom Crean called Whitehead later the same evening for the first time, and there was strong mutual interest.
There was so much interest, in fact, that Whitehead took his first unofficial visit to Bloomington last month. Whitehead was on campus at the same time as 2014 guard Robert Johnson, who will announce his decision tomorrow afternoon.
So, what does this mean for Indiana?
Well, it's not at all a surprise he didn't choose the Hoosiers. Indiana made a strong run at Whitehead, but ultimately he chose to stay close to home. Not much Crean could have done.
Missing on Whitehead doesn't really affect Indiana's status with other recruits -- namely Johnson -- in my opinion. Whitehead and Johnson had discussed playing together when they were both on campus at IU, but those talks never got serious.
With Whitehead off the board, the Hoosiers' list of guard targets narrows to Lourawls Nairn (on campus this weekend), Johnson and Blackmon Jr.
