Okonoboh commits to UNLV

2014 center Goodluck Okonoboh chose the Rebels over Indiana and Ohio State.

The big man Indiana targeted and coveted in the 2014 class is headed elsewhere.

Goodluck Okonoboh, a 2014 center from the Boston area, committed to UNLV on Thursday night. Okonoboh chose the Running Rebels over Indiana and Ohio State.

Okonoboh, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound prospect, visited UNLV most recently. His first official visit was to Indiana back in mid-September.

Missing on Okonoboh undoubtedly hurts the Hoosiers. He had been their primary big man target for some time, and began their only target when they bowed out of the races for Stephen Hurt and Chinanu Onuaku.

But at the same time, it's certainly not the end of the world. Indiana already has young big men in Hanner Mosquera-Perea and Luke Fischer, and I think Fischer will develop into a starting center fairly quickly. Plus, I always doubted whether Okonoboh could develop the offensive skills necessary to be a starter in the Big Ten. He's got the defensive tools already, but is very raw on the other end.

With Okonoboh off the board, Indiana is still recruiting forward Devin Robinson and guards James Blackmon Jr. and Ahmed Hill in the 2014 class.
