Hoops Recruiting Central: Midweek tidbits

2014 targets Devin Robinson and James Blackmon Jr. will announce decisions soon. Tidbits on both players, and more.

It's been awhile since I've done one of these blogs. Hope you haven't missed them too much. But let's jump right into things and update you on some of Indiana's 2014 targets.

First, Devin Robinson. Obviously, it's late in the game for the 2014 forward, and he's a very important prospect for all four of the schools recruiting him. Robinson took official visits to all four schools -- Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Indiana and Florida -- and is now in the process of making his decision.

At this point, Florida and Indiana are believed to be Robinson's top two schools, but Oklahoma State hasn't let that stop it from pushing hard for the 6-foot-8 forward. Oklahoma State met Robinson at the airport following his Notre Dame visit, and the staff took another trip to see Robinson in Virginia on Tuesday.

Indiana's done about everything it could to persuade Robinson to wear the Cream and Crimson. Assistant coach Kenny Johnson developed a great relationship with him, the staff showed him how he could develop in the program, and Tom Crean and Co. got Robinson on campus for Hoosier Hysteria. There's not much more you could ask for in that regard.

I'd expect a decision from Robinson sometime in the next week.

Now, James Blackmon Jr. The former Indiana commit is taking an official visit to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness this weekend, and is expected to make a decision soon. He told me on Monday night that he plans to take his last visit to Bloomington.

Crean visited Blackmon Jr. at Marion High School on Monday, and Blackmon Jr. said that meeting went well. Blackmon Jr.'s top three is believed to be Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan.

The Hoosiers also just recently started recruiting 2014 forward Max Hoetzel, who burst onto the scene after transferring from a California high school to Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Massachusetts.

Crean and Johnson watched Hoetzel while it was in town to see 2014 center Goodluck Okonoboh, who also attends Wilbraham and Monson. Hoetzel has not yet been offered a scholarship by Indiana, but he said Crean is supposed to come see him soon.

"My interest level is very high," Hoetzel said. "I just took my SAT so I'm trying to get visits scheduled as fast as I can."

That's all for today. Thanks for reading.
