Ferrell named to Cousy Award watch list

Sophomore Yogi Ferrell on list of nation's best point guards.

Indiana sophomore point guard Yogi Ferrell has been named to the watch list for the Cousy Award, given annually to the top point guard in college basketball.

Ferrell is one of 45 players on the list. Other Big Ten point guards included are Michigan State's Keith Appling, Ohio State's Aaron Craft and Penn State's Tim Frazier.

Ferrell averaged 7.6 points and 4.1 assists per game for the Hoosiers a season ago and started all 36 games. The list of 45 will be narrowed to 20 in early February and will be cut to five in early March, according to a press release.

The only Big Ten players ever to win the Cousy Award were Illinois' Dee Brown in 2006 and Michigan's Trey Burke last season.
