Indiana's Bowl Chances: A quick glance

The Hoosiers beat Illinois 52-35 on Saturday. What must they do to make a bowl?

Indiana beat Illinois 52-35 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. So what does it mean?

Well, the Hoosiers now have four wins and are two away from bowl eligibility with three games still to play. A bowl berth is still something of a long shot, but it's not impossible.

Here's a quick look at what lies ahead:

Sat., Nov. 16: At Wisconsin (7-2, 4-1)

Sat., Nov. 23: At Ohio State (9-0, 5-0)

Sat., Nov. 30: Vs. Purdue (1-8, 0-5)

Indiana has back-to-back road games upcoming against Wisconsin and Ohio State, and then returns home to play Purdue in the Bucket Game the following weekend. The Hoosiers should beat Purdue without issue. That gives you five wins.

Now, can Indiana beat either Wisconsin or Ohio State? Again, a long shot, but not completely out of the question.

Wisconsin has absolutely owned the Hoosiers, but that is the more winnable game of the two. And the Badgers haven't always looked great this season.

An example: Wisconsin beat a good Northwestern team 35-6, but it also lost to Arizona State 32-30.

The Hoosiers have virtually a zero percent chance of beating Ohio State at the Horseshoe, especially considering the fact the Buckeyes are still in the discussion for the national title game.

If the Hoosiers were to beat Wisconsin, it would have to be a high-scoring game. Indiana's offense is capable of scoring every time it touches it, so you never really know. But you'd certainly like to have Minnesota back. Or Michigan. Or Navy. Right? Top Stories
