The running back that joined the Hoosier football team as a 3 star in the 2011 recruiting class hasn't had a strong season so far in his collegiate career. His freshman year Roberts rushed for 263 yards on 61 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. Roberts's sophomore season did not improve much as he rushed for 300 yards on 83 attempts only scoring 3 touchdowns. This year he is on pace to have his worst season yet as he has only rushed for 102 yards on 24 carries.
A big reason for the decrease in yards this year is because of the standout play of Tevin Coleman. The sophomore has rushed for 998 yards and has scored 12 touchdowns. Now with the star running back out with a high ankle sprain, Roberts has a golden opportunity to prove he is worthy of being a respected running back. He is a powerful, quick runner who can get off the ball quickly but struggles with fending off contact.
Roberts has a chance to make a name for himself this weekend. A contest on the national stage in Columbus against the 3rd ranked team in the nation and on ABC is a great opportunity for Roberts.
