Assembly Hall to be renamed

It will now be called Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall after Cindy Simon Skjodt donated $40 million.

Assembly Hall is getting a face lift. And a new name.

The 40-year-old arena will now be called Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, according to multiple reports. The school will make it official at a 2:30 announcement this afternoon.

The arena is being named after Cindy Simon Skjodt, the daughter of the late Melvin Simon, a brilliant businessman who started Simon Malls. Simon Skjodt gave Indiana a $40 million gift, which should cover most of IU's planned renovations to Assembly Hall this year.

We will have plenty more about this news later this afternoon as it continues to develop. Top Stories
