Football Recruiting Update: Jan. 20, 2014

In today's football recruiting update, Nilijah Ballew talks about his official visit last weekend to IU with a ton of quotes from's Dave Berk and there is a commitment spotlight on Tegray Scales. There's also the news of a couple of other new IU offers to 2015 prospects.

Here are some stories involving Indiana recruiting targets from several of our Scout national analysts for Monday, Jan. 20, 2014: 1. Dave Berk had an earlier report in our last update that Louisville commit Nilijah Ballew was considering an official visit to IU. He made it last weekend and from the sound of this report it went very well. He said Kevin Wilson didn't extend an offer because he wanted to meet Ballew's parents first. LINK

2. Berk also had this commitment spotlight on Tegray Scales. You get a good feel from reading this what kind of player IU can expect in the fall. LINK

3. Beth Long reported that Leon Thornton, a 2015 wide receiver from Lombard (Ill.) Montini Catholic has picked up an offer from Indiana. There's no link with this one but rather just that important little factoid. Thanks Beth. 4. National analyst Allen Trieu reports that Indianapolis Chatard OT Adam Solomon has picked up an offer from IU, too. The 2015 tackle already has offers from Purdue, Illinois and Toledo. LINK

5. There is also this report from Michigan State site publisher Mike Wilson about Clarkston (Mich.) 2015 TE Cole Chewins who has been hearing from the Hoosiers. LINK
