EAST LANSING, Mich. --- Indiana senior forward Will Sheehey missed Tuesday night's game at No. 3 Michigan State with an ankle injury he suffered in Saturday's loss to Northwestern. Indiana coach Tom Crean said afterward that Sheehey is day-to-day and his status is unknown for Sunday's home game against Illinois.
Sheehey returned to Saturday's game against Northwestern, but the injury ended up being worse than originally anticipated. Sheehey dressed on Tuesday but did not participate in warmups and was not on crutches.
"I think he played on adrenaline as much as anything else," Crean said Tuesday. "We weren't gonna press it. He wasn't close to being able to go today, and he didn't go yesterday. He was highly disappointed, but I thought he handled it really well on the bench. It wasn't like it was a game-time decision, we knew it this morning. Hopefully he's ready to go Sunday, but I don't have any idea right now."
In addition to Sheehey, Crean also moved senior guard Evan Gordon out of the starting lineup. In their places, the Hoosiers started Austin Etherington and Stanford Robinson, both of whom were making their first career starts.
Robinson finished with nine points on 4-of-10 shooting, and Etherington had three points and three rebounds in Indiana's 71-66 loss to the Spartans.
