Crean 'hopeful' Sheehey will play Sunday

Indiana coach Tom Crean hopes his senior forward can return for Sunday's game against Illinois.

Indiana coach Tom Crean said Friday he hopes senior forward Will Sheehey will be ready to play in Sunday's home game against Illinois.

Sheehey suffered an ankle injury in last Saturday's loss to Northwestern and missed Tuesday's game at Michigan State. Crean said Sheehey was able to participate in some non-contact drills on Thursday for the first time.

"We're hopeful that he's gonna play," Crean said Friday. "He did a little work yesterday. He didn't do very much, but he did some non-contact work and things of that nature. But I think after yesterday that we'd be hopeful."

Sheehey started the first 18 games of the season for Indiana. The Hoosiers have lost two consecutive games after winning back-to-back games against Penn State and Wisconsin. Top Stories
