Indiana women's basketball coach Curt Miller has been named one of the eight finalists for National Coach of the Year.
Miller became a finalist after the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced Miller was named the Coach of the Year in Region 6. All regional winners are automatically considered for the national award, which will be announced on Monday, April 7 in Nashville.
Also among the finalists are Geno Auriemma (Connecticut), Muffet McGraw (Notre Dame), Dawn Staley (South Carolina), Jennifer Roos (Bowling Green), Kim Mulkey (Baylor), Ryun Williams (Colorado State) and Scott Rueck (Oregon State).
Miller has led the Hoosiers to a 20-12 overall record and to the third round of the WNIT. Indiana hosts Big Ten foe Northwestern on Thursday night.
Even if he doesn't win the award, it has to be considered quite the honor for Miller. He's turning the IU women's program around, and coaches around the country have taken notice. Good for him.
