Indiana offers Va. Tech transfer Thompson

IU coach Tom Crean met with Virginia Tech transfer and Indy native Trevor Thompson on Saturday.

Indiana offered a scholarship to 6-foot-11 Virginia Tech transfer Trevor Thompson, as first reported by

Thompson, an Indianapolis native, was a freshman for the Hokies this past season. He averaged 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game. He shot 41 percent from the field.

Thompson met with Indiana coach Tom Crean and assistant coach Kenny Johnson today. Thompson said he came away "impressed." He is scheduled to meet with Purdue coach Matt Painter tonight and Ohio State coach Thad Matta tomorrow. Butler is also involved in Thompson's recruitment, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Thompson is a big body and has three years of eligibility remaining, but he won't be eligible to play immediately, so he won't impact the team next season. He was a three-star recruit in 2013 and is a former teammate of Devin Davis and Collin Hartman with the Eric Gordon All-Stars.

We will have more on Thompson and his interest in the Hoosiers later. Top Stories
