Indiana will have a tough test today in the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitation Tournament when it travels to Brookings, S.D. to face South Dakota State at 3 p.m. ET at Frost Arena.
The game can be heard on WHCC 105.1 FM with Jeremy Gray on the call or you can watch via live video stream at GoJacks.com, the South Dakota State site.
Both of these teams really like to shoot the 3-point shot. The Hoosiers have made 251 3-pointers this season, a school record and a total that ranks second all-time in Big Ten history. It marks just the second time in school history that an IU team has made more than 200 3-pointers in a season. IU's 131 made 3's in conference play also ranks second all-time in conference history.
South Dakota State can also knock down the long shot though. The Jacks have made 230 3-pointers this season which equals 6.7 3-pointers made per game.
Two statistics weighing in South Dakota State's favor this season with regards to today's game are that the Jacks are a perfect 17-0 at home this season and also have been successful against Big Ten competition. South Dakota State defeated Penn State in December in a non-conference matchup, and also beat Minnesota Thursday night in the WNIT.
The win over Northwestern Thursday night gave IU its 21st victory of the season, which ties a school record. It's the fifth time in program history that IU has accomplished the feat and the first since the 2008-09 season.
