DeNato earns co-pitcher of the week

After a weekend where he threw eight scoreless innings in a victory over Michigan State, IU senior left-hander Joey DeNato was named co-Big Ten pitcher of the week in the Big Ten, the conference announced Monday. It is DeNato's second such honor of this season and the third of his career.

Indiana standout Joey DeNato picked up his third career Big Ten pitcher of the week honor Monday and second of this season, the Big Ten announced.

DeNato's most recent honor comes after the senior left-hander threw eight scoreless innings of five-hit baseball last week in IU's victory over Michigan State Friday at Bart Kaufman Field.

DeNato's senior season has been a dominant one. He is 8-1 with a 2.12 ERA. He has won his last five decisions and is 4-0 with a 2.69 ERA in 26 and a third innings pitched in conference play.

DeNato has had a record-setting season, too. He continues to build on career school records for innings pitched (324), victories (32) and strikeouts (262). His career record with the Hoosiers is 32-9 with a 2.69 ERA.

This week DeNato actually shared the Big Ten pitcher of the week honor with Northwestern's Jack Quigley. Top Stories
