Indiana offers 2016 center Barret Benson

The Hoosiers extended the offer to Illinois big man Barret Benson on Monday night.

Indiana coach Tom Crean and his staff have working hard on the 2014 class in recent weeks and months, but they are also still positioning themselves for classes down the road.

On Monday, Crean offered a scholarship to 2016 center Barret Benson, a three-star center from Darien, Ill. He's 6-foot-9 and 210 pounds and is the 12th-ranked center in the 2016 class.

Benson visited Indiana for Hoosier Hysteria last year and the Hoosiers paid him a trip earlier last week. They also sent director of basketball operations Rob Judson to see Benson at the Jawhawk Invitational in Kansas over the weekend.

Benson also owns offers from DePaul, Oregon State and Penn State and has received interest from Iowa, Kansas State, Purdue, Xavier, Georgetown, Marquette, Michigan and Northwestern.

Benson is the second center in the 2016 class to receive an offer from Indiana, joining five-star Fort Wayne prospect Caleb Swanigan. Top Stories
