IU football signs deal with Connecticut

Indiana University director of athletics Fred Glass announced Tuesday that Indiana has signed a deal with Connecticut to play a home-and-home series in football in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. In 2019, the game will be played in Bloomington and in 2020 in East Hartford, Conn.

Indiana football has added an opponent with a home-and-home series for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

The Hoosiers announced Tuesday they will play the University of Connecticut Sept. 21, 2019 in Bloomington, and then travel to East Hartford, Conn. for the return game on Sept. 26, 2020.

It hasn't been that long since Indiana played at Connecticut. The Hoosiers played the first game in the history of Rentschler Field on Aug. 30, 2003 when head coach Gerry DiNardo took Indiana on the road to play the Huskies. The return game was in September of 2006 at Memorial Stadium.

"We are excited to be able to add an opponent like UConn to our schedule," Indiana Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass said in a release put out by the media relations department. "This addition keeps us in line with our goal of having seven home games every year and is consistent with the Big Ten's policy that each school play at least one major conference opponent in the non-conference every season. We feel that adding UConn is great for both our fans and our program as we continue to move forward."
