Despite sweeping Purdue over the weekend and pounding Miami of Ohio in a mid-week game last Wednesday, Indiana slipped from the No. 2 to the No. 4 slot in the latest RPI baseball rankings. Indiana outscored Purdue 25-6 and beat Miami 16-1 but still fell. The top three are Virginia, Florida and Florida State.
Indiana baseball swept three games from Purdue over the weekend, and also pounded Miami of Ohio in a mid-week game last week, 16-1.
The Hoosiers outscored Purdue 25-6 in the three-game series.
And Indiana dropped in this week's RPI.
The Hoosiers were ranked No. 2 in the RPI heading into last week. This week, Indiana (32-12) is No. 4 in the RPI.
The only thing that makes sense is that Indiana played host to a Purdue team that has a record of 12-32 and thus the Ratings Percentage Index ranking came down.
Virginia holds the top spot in the RPI, followed by Florida and Florida State. Indiana is fourth, Vanderbilt is fifth, followed by Rice, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Oregon State and TCU.
Here is a look at the complete most recent RPI rankings.
