Eli Wright to visit Indiana soon

Eli Wright, a 2016 shooting guard from Owensboro, Kentucky, got a call from Tom Crean on Sunday.

Indiana coach Tom Crean was the first to call several recruits when the 2016 contact period opened on Sunday. One of those players was Eli Wright, a shooting guard from Kentucky.

Wright, 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, plays for Apollo High School in Owensboro. He's not currently ranked in the class, but he said he plans to visit Indiana soon and play in an open gym format.

"Coach Crean said that on my unofficial visit coming up soon he wants to watch me play 5 on 5 with some of his guys," Wright told AllHoosiers.com. "My interest in them is very high. I like the way they play."

Wright currently owns offers from Mississippi State, Eastern Kentucky, Northern Kentucky and Western Kentucky, but he has already taken two unofficial trips to nearby Louisville.

After Crean on Sunday, Louisville, Tennessee, UAB and Purdue called Wright.

As a sophomore, Wright averaged 21.3 points per game for Apollo.
