Marshall was ready to attend the Mississippi State Team Shootout camp held in the Humphrey Coliseum and the Mize Center.
"Camps like this just hype up our team," said Marshall. "(My teammates) were ready, like I was. When I was asked if I was ready to go to the Mississippi State camp I said, 'oh yeah, come on.' "
When you first see Marshall play, one of the first things that you notice is how much emotion he plays with, even during a summer team camp.He explains where that emotion comes from.
"When I'm out there I'm just having fun," said Marshall. "I fell in love with this game my 6th grade year. I just fell in love with it. In my 5th grade year I was outside with my little brother just playing around. Then, in middle school I got on the team and that's when I fell in love with it."
While emotion is a big part of his game, he described his overall game, both defensively and offensively.
"Defensively, I play with a lot of emotion," said Marshall. "I really love playing defense. I love making blocks, rebounding, making outlet passes.
"My offense is what (the defense) will let me do. If I have to dunk on somebody, I'll dunk on them. When they need me to kick it out (to one of my teammates) for a three, then I'll do that.
"I think my game is the best in Tennessee."
And it appears that a lot of college coaches have similar sentiments about his game.
"Florida, Indiana and Kansas are showing interest and I have offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Memphis, UMASS and Georgia," said Marshall.
All the attention that he is receiving has caught him a little offguard.
"When I was little I would have never thought that I would wind up being one of the top players in the nation," said Marshall. "I thought I was going to go to high school, play ball, then be done with it. But, no, as you see, I'm at Mississippi State right now."
And it appears that attending Mississippi State after high school is a possibility for the talented 2015 center.
"I would love to go to Mississippi State," said Marshall. "As a matter of fact, Mississippi State is in my top five right now. I would love to go to Mississippi State. I would love to see this arena packed."
Speaking of packed, Mississippi State assistant coach Wes Flanigan, the MSU coach who is recruiting Marshall, has been busy packing the outgoing mail at Mississippi State.
"Coach Flanigan, who is an awesome coach, is recruiting me for Mississippi State and he is like recruiting me hard,"said Marshall. "My sister said they blew up my mailbox. She said there were like 180 letters from Mississippi State in my mailbox. They are recruiting me the hardest and that means a lot to me."
Marshall is not quite ready to name a school though. But he has a general idea when that day will come.
"I'm either going to make my decision on Homecoming Day or Senior Night," said Marshall. "Homecoming is, if I'm not mistaken, on January 24th. Senior Night is the last game of the basketball season."
