Indiana University baseball has 14 players currently in professional baseball.
That includes the four off of last year's team that were recently selected in the Major League Draft.
Of the 14, five are playing at the Triple-A level.
Today, we'll take a look at those five players.
*** Alex Dickerson -- After being traded from Pittsburgh to San Diego at the end of last year, Dickerson was looking forward to a new start in his hometown. Dickerson is from Poway, Calif., which is close to San Diego. But injuries have put Dickerson's season on hold. Late in Spring Training he suffered a severe sprained ankle after taking a misstep in morning exercises and warmup drills with the Padres. That injury was going to force him to begin the season on the disabled list before reporting to Triple-A affiliate El Paso. In early April, however, a cyst was discovered on Dickerson's left calcaneus (heel) bone which required surgery. A decision was made to do the surgery on April 4 and Dickerson was expected to be out 4-5 months.
*** Josh Phegley -- Phegley is one of two former Indiana players playing in Triple-A with the Charlotte Knights, an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Phegley has played in 61 games with the Knights and the catcher is hitting .235 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI.
*** Micah Johnson -- Johnson is the other former IU player on the Knights. He has played in 26 games and is hitting .270. He has one home run, eight RBI and four stolen bases.
*** Jake Dunning -- Dunning has made 21 appearances for the Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Dunning has an 0-1 record and a 5.88 ERA in 33.2 innings pitched. He has one start and one save this season.
*** Joey O'Gara -- O'Gara started the season with Jupiter in Class A ball where he pitched 15 games and had an 0.54 ERA with eight saves. He was promoted to Jacksonville in AA ball where he pitched in eight games and had a 3.12 ERA and a 1-0 record with one save. Next he was promoted to New Orleans in Triple-A but has only pitched one game there and allowed two earned runs in 2 innings pitched for a 9.00 ERA. He is current on the 7-day disabled list.
